Three villages have been selected, to start with kindergartens for kids of the poorest families and be expanded as a model into other areas while further school- projects are planned.

Mindset Care

To find more flow and reassess self-worth, especially for traumatized or exploited kids, is key. So we provide flowmapping for teachers  and affected persons themselves to do so.

Status Quo
Lost children

It is no secret that there are over 15 million infants and young children living in the subcontinent of India whose chances of survival are absolutely slim. In many cases, for a variety of reasons, they have neither medical nor basic nutritional care at their disposal. If no family or institution can be found to take them in, they are threatened with being left on the street with nothing, without care and accompaniment. Abuse, child labour, crime, prostitution and exploitation become common ways in which they are at the mercy and lost without protection.

My Why
Deadly shortage

Bild
CSI Lombard Memorial Hospital, Udupi, 2013

In 1979, I was born in South India and due to difficult family circumstances and social norms, I was abandoned in a hospital in Udupi. As I was very sick as an infant and de facto no one could provide the treatments necessary for survival, the necessary supply of medicines and food to meet my needs did not materialise. In this situation, only due to a lack of resources, this would have meant my certain death before my first birthday. But things turned out differently. I would now like to make this turnaround possible for other children and families.

It began in 1979/80

The Rescue
A new start

At the same time, a couple in Germany was trying to adopt an Indian child. After all the formalities had been completed and the hospital could be informed that the costs would be covered, the necessary resources were provided by the future adoptive parents. Despite the risk of not being able to save the child even with the care made possible, they agreed to pay all costs in advance. With success. Following the treatments, the restored fitness for transport, months of waiting and further stopovers in different places, I was picked up and was able to start a new life in Germany at the age of nine months. Most children, however, do not have the luck of a comparable, saving new start.

What we do
More than donate

With India Child Care, we are launching an organisation that provides targeted, direct and sustainable help to children in such situations. In concrete terms, this means support through financial donations in the first step. In this way, the care of precisely those children for whom no one else is available is improved through urgently needed medication, nutrition and equipment - and often made possible in the first place. One of the first recipients is the C.S.I. Lombard Memorial Hospital in Udupi, where I was treated at the time. During our last visit to the facility, we had the opportunity to see the mother-child area in particular, which is to become a central starting point for India Child Care. ICC will realise help offers in the children's country of origin, which are flexibly oriented towards individual needs. Through further counselling and support options, a continuous offer for children and relatives in the phases before and after inpatient stays is to be created.

In addition to supporting facilities, we accompany children step by step on their way to an environment that enables them to grow up in an age-appropriate way and to stand on their own two feet in the future. Depending on the case, this path can lead from the hospital to pre-schools and schools to placement with foster and adoptive parents. For this purpose, we create a structure that supports contributors, helpers and those concerned in structuring personal components and organizational elements on site and virtually.

At a glance
How we work

By closing the gaps before, between and after hospital care, new pathways open up, that lead to a promising future through school and education. Instead of the street.

Existing contacts with the former and current hospital management as well as well-connected organisations enable us to establish a structure that is both efficient and lean. This enables us to react immediately to acute situations of need. With the help of your commitment, the survival of the smallest and weakest children and their chance for a healthy, self-determined life is ensured.

Thanks a lot
Take care

WHAT ROLE DOES FLOWMAPPING PLAY?

The experiences from my previous consulting work for private individuals and various companies have played a significant role in the development of flowmapping. The flowmapping method is a toolbox that helps to look at issues and challenges in a new way and to solve them differently than before. In addition to its application in personal or corporate settings, a special section is being developed for the needs of India Child Care.

The resources and materials, which will be published and offered online via a separate website and web app, will improve direct dialogue with affected families and involved agencies. Externally, the mobilisation of various actors as well as the establishment and expansion of a network of helpers and infrastructure is also being organised. Locally, but also virtually, outside India. Organisations like India Child Care are confronted with two core challenges on a daily basis: The continuous mobilisation of supporters and the reduction of concerns on the part of affected families and involved agencies. Through innovative technology, the flowmapping web app can optimise interactive recruitment of new members and supporters in the future and provide a valuable part of external communication at various points. Above all, however, a tool is offered to those involved at the counselling level with which those affected can be accompanied in a targeted manner and cared for according to their needs.
